William (Wally) Hamilton
William Hamilton of Oswaldtwistle, died peacefully at home on Wednesday 14th September 2016, aged 73 years.
Wally as he was known to his friends worked for 20 years at Lingonstones on Church Street in Church, wood turning, making golf clubs. During this time he met a lot of professional golf players and the items he made would have been used by Golfers all over the world. After that he worked at Senator up until his retirement at the age of 65.
In years gone by he enjoyed socialising at the Old James Street Club in Oswaldtwistle especially playing dominoes at Sunday lunchtimes. At home Wally loved gardening, doing D.I.Y and going to local Car Boot Sales. He also took pleasure at the weekend guessing the football results with Super Six on Saturdays.
He also took delight in taking his wife Katie of 50 years away on holiday to Benidorm and Blackpool and also ventured further afield on the occasional cruise.
Wally was the dearly loved husband and soulmate of Katie, a much loved father of Billy and Jason, a dear father in law of Debi and Angela and also a treasured grandad of Jessica and Katy.
A celebration of life service will be held (today) Friday 23rd September at 3.00pm at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please but donations are welcomed in memory of Wally for the RSPCA (Altham) c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
