Walter Gordon Aldred
Walter Gordon Aldred of Great Harwood, died suddenly in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Sunday 6th December 2015, aged 78 years.
After leaving school Gordon worked at the Co-Op in Blackburn. In 1955 he went to work at Mullards (Phillips) at Blackburn, where he remained for over 40 years.
In his spare time he greatly enjoyed archery and was a member of Pendle & Samlesbury Archery Club. Gordon later moved on and became a founding member by forming the Samlesbury Longbow Archers of which he was a devoted member for 40 years. When back at home Gordon loved gardening, he also took pleasure in going on holiday and also enjoyed travelling around the UK.
Gordon was the dear husband of the late Madeleine for over 40 years and also a dear husband of the late Jean. He leaves behind his much loved children Francis, Colin, Kevin, Allan, Gary and Yvonne, his 16 treasured grandchildren, his 4 cherished great grandchildren and all his loving family and friends.
His funeral service will be held on Friday 11th December, at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please, but donations are welcomed in memory of Gordon for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Stroke Association c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
