Tony Cooper
Tony Cooper of Baxenden, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Monday 24th December 2018, aged 68 years.
Throughout his life Tony has always been a hard worker and would do anything for anybody. He has held various careers during his life including as an Electrician for WH Smiths in the late 60’s/early 70’s, and at Clayton Goodfellows until 1977. He then worked at JM Pears Ltd, a family printing business from 1977 until 1995, he then went into his own family business Coopertrains up until retiring in 2017.
Tony was a familiar face around Hyndburn but also further afield, especially when performing as the lead singer of The Soundcasters, he regularly supported local charity events, festivals and carnivals. In his spare time he was a Blackburn Rovers season ticket holder, a member of the HRCA (Hornby Railways Collectors Association), a volunteer at the Accrington Heritage Centre in the Arndale Centre and also served on the Carnival committee for the Accrington Lions. He loved socialising, trains and football but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A dearly loved husband of the late Marilyn, a much loved dad of Simon and Darren, a dear brother of Phil, a dear father in law of Jackie and a treasured grandad of Shannon and Alicia. He was also a dear friend and colleague to many.
He will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Tony, and of course Marilyn. When we last met about 5 years ago Tony informed me that he would no longer be mending Hornby Dublo engines, a service which brought us together in 1999, and kept us in regular contact for the next 16 years. He told me that he would in future be concentrating on the purely commercial side of his business. A very kind and outgoing man , blessed with a wonderful wife and family, he will be sadly missed. God bless you Tony and Marilyn. From John Nigel Schofield, of Thornton Cleveleys.
Sadly missed, atruly good man.
