Roy Taylor
Roy Taylor of Buxton Street, Accrington, passed away peacefully in hospital on Monday 21st December 2020, aged 92 years.
During his working life Roy started out as an apprentice plumber. He then joined the Accrington Gas and Water Board. He also worked for Calder Water Board before joining United Utilities, where he served for 42 years, working in the control office up until his retirement.
In his spare time and during his retirement Roy greatly enjoyed caravanning, and has toured Scotland as well as visiting the South Coast many times, where he was particularly fond of Dawlish in Devon and also Cornwall. He also liked listening to big band music and loved his football and was an Accrington Stanley fan. He was also a member of St James Parish Church, in Accrington, the Probus Club and the Masonic Lodge at Accrington.
Roy sadly leaves behind his dearly loving wife Freda, his much loved son Russell and his partner Jane, his dear nieces Sandra and Marilyn and their families.
He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
His funeral service will be held at 10.45am on Wednesday 6th January at St James Parish Church, Accrington, prior to interment at Accrington Cemetery. (Numbers are limited however due to the current restrictions). Please contact the family or the funeral director if you wish to attend.
