Rowland Aldred
Mr Rowland Aldred of Ascot Way, Accrington, passed away peacefully in the East Lancashire Hospice after a short illness on Saturday, March 8, 2014, aged 75 years.
During his life Rowland was proud to be among those who gave National Service with the Army in Aldershot. Later on in life he worked for the Civil Service in offices throughout the North, covering Grimsby, Bolton, Blackburn, Accrington and Burnley.
Rowland was also one of the founders of Hyndburn Athletic Club and spent ten years with the club as a coach and as the treasurer. In his spare time and throughout his retirement Rowland was a keen gardener and had a creative eye when doing landscape gardening. He was also very handy around the house and could turn his hand to most types of D.I.Y especially painting and decorating.
Rowland leaves behind his dearly loved wife Valerie, his much loved children Stuart and Lyn, his dear daughter in law Vicki and son in law Tugrul, and also his treasured grandchildren Jamie, Alex, Matt and Ella.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday 18th March at 11.00am at Accrington Crematorium prior to cremation. Family flowers only please but donations are welcome in memory of Rowland for the East Lancashire Hospice and may be sent c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
