Raymond PickeringRaymond Pickering of Brook Street, Rishton, passed away on Wednesday 11th September 2019 in hospital, aged 77 years.

In his youth Ray attended St James Infant School and then Bangor St at Blackburn, he left school at the age of 15 and went to work at Donshoe.  He has also worked over the years for many building firms.  Ray later decided it was time to take the plunge and work for himself doing building and plastering.

Before Ray became less mobile he enjoyed cycling and gardening, he loved to grow veg and tomatoes down at his allotment (pen).  He also enjoyed listening to music,  watching horse racing on TV and on Thursdays going to Fleetwood with his friend Foxy.  He was also a member of Rishton Working Men’s Club and Rishton Con Club, and was very well known throughout the town and the Accrington Club scene.

Ray sadly leaves behind his loving wife Josie and two great sons David and Stephen, he was also a much loved brother of Maurice and Barry, a dear uncle and cousin of Gordon.

His funeral service will be held at 1.15pm on Tuesday 24th September 2019, at St Peter and St Paul’s Parish Church, Rishton, prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.
