Paul Taylforth
Paul Taylforth of Foxfields Close, Oswaldtwistle, passed away at home unexpectedly but peacefully on Saturday 24th October 2020, aged 63 years.
During his life Paul was a hard worker and put his own career on hold to become his mother’s full time carer when she became poorly with Multiple Sclerosis, he then later also cared for his father who had Parkinson’s. After the death of his beloved Evonne in 2017, he dedicated himself to his son John’s needs, when he also became his full time carer.
Over the years Paul has embarked on several battles with Local Authorities to fly the flag for better support and funding for the disabled, he campaigned and petitioned tirelessly to make their voices heard, the one he was most proud of was the fight for the then, Independent Living Fund (ILF), and along with the help of solicitors, won this fight in the court of appeal.
His selflessness, devotion and dedication to not only John but to Sarah and the family was heartfelt, sincere and unconditional; he truly had a big heart.
He did everything he could with John to keep Evonne’s memory alive and they both often went on a trip down memory lane for short breaks to the likes of Goathland, Rhyl, Llandudno, Scarborough and not to mention the day trips to Blackpool, Lytham and Fleetwood for Fish & chips.
Both Paul and John were regulars on Saturday mornings at Accrington Cinema were they shared a love of films together. He was also a member of the Gym at Hyndburn Sports Centre until recent years, where everybody knew him.
When Paul finally had a moment to himself, he enjoyed reading, going to the theatre, music, darts and a nice glass of red wine not to mention the occasional pie.
He also enjoyed going away on holiday and was a regular to Benidorm and was well known on the Benidorm circuit where he also made many friends.
Paul sadly leaves behind his much loved children Sarah and John, his treasured grandchildren Ashley and Reece and was loved by all.
Paul had requested that donations be made to the British Heart Foundation, instead of any flowers.
