Margaret (Peggy) Cain

Maragret Cain - 1Margaret (Peggy) Cain of Oswaldtwistle, died peacefully in a private care home on Tuesday 25th October 2016, aged 94 years.

During her life Peggy worked at the Royal Ordinance Factory during the Second World War and also at Marks & Spencer in Accrington when it first opened in the 1960’s.  She then later worked as an assistant at Spring Hill Primary School until her retirement in 1982.

She was also a member of the Mother’s Union for over 60 years at St Peter’s Church in Accrington and also St Paul’s Church in Oswaldtwistle.  In her spare time and during her retirement Peggy took interest in dress making and made many of her own clothes.  She also enjoyed travelling and holidays with her late husband Bill, especially to France and Spain.

Peggy sadly leaves behind her dearly loved daughter Barbara, her treasured grandchildren Rebecca, Richard and Stephen and also her cherished great grandchildren Emily, Jacob, Elliott and Oliver.

Her funeral service took place yesterday (Thursday) 3rd November 2016, at 1.45pm at St Paul’s Church, Oswaldtwistle prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.  Donations are welcome in memory of Peggy for the British Legion’s – Poppy Appeal c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
