Kenneth Steele
Kenneth Steele of Back Lane, Baxenden, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday 4th May 2019, aged 89 years.
In his early years Kenneth attended St John’s C of E School in Baxenden and started off his working life as a maintenance engineer at Highams and later worked as a sewing machine mechanic at Karrimor.
In his spare time and during his retirement Kenneth was both interested and skilled in all things artistic and was known locally for his hand sculptured Lancashire clogs and hand thrown decorated pottery, his speciality being mushroom houses. He also enjoyed walking and being out in the countryside. He was also a cub leader and group scout leader for over 25 years at St John’s, Baxenden, where he was presented with an award in recognition of his dedicated and long service. For many years Kenneth also attended and was a member of St James Church in Accrington.
A loving husband of Lilian, a dear father of Andrew, Janette and Susan, also a dear grandfather and great grandfather.
His funeral service will take place on Wednesday 22nd May, at 1.15pm at St James Church, Accrington, prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.
