John Taylor
John Taylor, of Edinburgh Drive, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully, on Thursday 10th November 2022, aged 85 years.
After being de-mobbed at 20 years old, John entered the textiles industry as a sales rep. He eventually joined Wills Fabrics in Oswaldtwistle and rose to the position of manager. He stayed with the firm for 30 years.
After retirement he worked at Oswaldtwistle Mill, a position he thoroughly enjoyed. John was an active member of Burnley Bowling Club. As a young man he was a talented footballer, and had trials for Manchester City, a club he supported all his life. He was delighted with their recent success on the national and international stage. His son Stuart carries on the tradition. John was an all-round impressive sportsman, excelling at tennis as well as football. John was a great fan of country music and some of his favourite stars were Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks. He also had great prowess on the dance floor and was a favourite to dance with amongst the ladies Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren.
He leaves his wife Jean, his daughter Caroline, son Stuart and three stepchildren, Laura, Lance and Stephanie. He also leaves his adored brother Stan and many grandchildren.
A service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Wednesday 23rd November at 1:40pm, followed by a wake at the Stop and Rest Oswaldtwistle where you can raise a rum and pep or a pint of mild in remembrance.
