John (Jack) Haworth
JOHN (JACK) HAWORTH on 1st of August 2020, unexpectedly passed away peacefully – far too soon at the age of 80.
Beloved husband of the late Valerie, dearly adored Dad of Lesley, much loved Granddad to Jason and Amy, and a fun-loving Great Granddad to Mia – Jack was also a fantastic Brother-in-law to Joyce and Eileen, and a very good friend to many. Jack was a brilliant bowler, and it was through his love of the game that he met Elaine, with whom he happily enjoyed the latter years of his life.
A former Electrician’s Mate with WH Smith for many years, Jack really was a ‘master of all trades’, turning his hand to anything from building through to gardening. A genuine social butterfly, he was also a master at pub games too – having spent much of his down-time over the years frequenting the Fountain, James Street and Stanhill WMCs, together with Oswaldtwistle’s finest public houses – making many good friends along the way.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Tuesday, 18th August at 11am, for immediate family and close friends only, any additional mourners wishing to pay their respects may do so outside whilst adhering to the current social distancing guidelines, a social event to share memories is to be scheduled at a later date, following the relaxation of the current restrictions.
Family flowers only please, but donations to Oswaldtwistle Immanuel Bowling Club would be most welcome, so that the family can arrange a suitable and lasting memorial in Jack’s honour.
The family are encouraging friends to send any photographs you may have of Jack to Paul Barton at info@bartonhallworth.co.uk or Barton and Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, BB5 3DR. Donations can also be sent to this address.
