John (Jack) Dixon Ashworth

Jack Dixon Ashworth of Waddington Road, Accrington, died peacefully on Thursday 13^th February 2025, aged 90 years.

Throughout his life Jack was a hard worker, working as a plumber for Jimmy Haworth’s Plumbing Service, after completing his National Service in the RAF. He also later worked for Blackburn Borough Council as a building inspector and customer liaison officer.  After taking his retirement, he then took up a part time job delivering for Peels Chemist.

In his spare time and during his retirement Jack’s life revolved around sport. In his youth Jack enjoyed playing cricket for Baxenden Cricket Club.  He later took up golf and was a member of both Accrington and Great Harwood Golf Club. Jack was also a member of several golf societies and enjoyed going on their many trips abroad.  In his later years he enjoyed bowling, especially at Peel Park and Burnley Road Bowling Club, also enjoying a tipple in the club afterwards.  Football was also in the mix with him being a season ticket holder at Burnley FC for many years too.

He also loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his holidays abroad, especially to Portugal and Lanzarote and more recently trips to Kirby Lonsdale with his family, which spanned over 4 generations.

Jack was the dearly loved husband of the late Margaret, he sadly leaves behind his much-loved daughter Jill, son in law Paul, treasured grandson Nick and his wife Stacey and his cherished great granddaughter Annie.  Also, a beloved brother of Beryl and brother-in-law Jeff and a dear uncle.

A celebration of life service will take place at 1.00pm, on Friday 14^th March 2025, at Accrington Crematorium.
