Joan Hacking

Joan Hacking of Church View Care Home, Oswaldtwistle died peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2014, aged 89 years.

During her life Joan worked as an assistant in the local Co-op shoe department and later became a nurse at Calderstones.  She loved cycling and rode almost everywhere she went.  At 38 she married Richard, a local butcher and gained her stepson Peter. Joan also enjoyed helping out the family business by working in the butcher’s shop.

Joan loved animals, especially cats.  She enjoyed travelling, socialising and being driven around the area, near and far.  Joan also took pleasure in dining out and enjoyed visiting local restaurants, especially ones in the Ribble Valley.  She was also a member of St Paul’s Church, Oswaldtwistle and the Mason’s.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 9.40am at Accrington Crematorium, prior to cremation.   Family flowers only please, but donations are welcomed in lieu of flowers in memory of Joan for The East Lancashire Hospice c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
