Jane (Jennie) Holden
Jane Holden of China Street, Accrington died peacefully at home on Friday 31st July, 2015, aged 96 years.
Known to her friends and family as Jennie. Jennie started her working life as a weaver at Church, she also worked for a while spinning at Vine Mill in Oswaldtwistle. She also worked at Ewbank on Hyndburn Road in Accrington, Rists Wires and Cables and Accrington Brush Works.
Jennie in her younger years was very sporty and greatly enjoyed playing cricket, football and hockey, she played cricket for Immanuel Church in Oswaldtwistle. This trait continued down the generations and she would admirably go along to watch her grandson Russ play football and also play cricket for Enfield and Accrington. She was also a life-long Rovers fan.
Jennie leaves behind her dearly loved son Alan and his wife Anne, her much loved daughter Ann and her husband Kevin, her grandchildren Maxine and husband Jason, Russell and his wife Elizabeth and John and Cheryl and also her great grandchildren Nathan, Naomi, Elliott, Freya, Kendra, William and Lucy.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday 14th August 2015, at 1.00pm in the Barton & Hallworth Service Chapel, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, followed by interment at Accrington Cemetery. Family flowers only please but donations are welcome in memory of Jennie for the Royal British Legion c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
