James (Jim) Woodhouse
James Woodhouse of Broadfield Street, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Sunday 25th November 2018, aged 96 years.
Better known to his family and friends as Jim. Throughout his life Jim was always a hard worker and kept himself busy. Over the years he worked for various companies including the Gas Works at Church as a Stoker, at Pannette and Burco as a metal spinner, Walker Steel and Singer Cobble as a production worker and also as a Gunner for the Army during the Second World War.
In his spare time and during his retirement he enjoyed sea fishing and working on his allotments. At his allotment he enjoyed growing fruit, vegetables and flowers, he also bred and kept chickens, ducks and pigeons. He also took pleasure in going away on holiday, especially caravanning and touring around Scotland, later in life he also made several trips to visit family in Canada. He was a keen Blackburn Rovers supporter and was a season ticket holder up until he was 92. He also took up the art of baking and jam making after turning 80.
A dearly loved father of Jim, Stan, Irene, Peter, Philip and the late Frank, also a treasured grandad, great grandad and great, great grandad.
Jim will be very sadly missed by all his family and friends.
His funeral service will take place at 1.00pm on Tuesday 4th December at Accrington Crematorium. Black clothes need not be worn.
