James (Jim) Dewhurst

Mr James Dewhurst, known to many as “Grandad” and of Dowry Street, Accrington died suddenly in the early hours on Thursday, April 11, 2013, aged 77 years.

He worked for Sterling Stubbins Paper Mill before retiring due to ill health and more recently spent his time gardening for Help the Aged.  Jim greatly enjoyed going on holidays, especially with his late wife Ellen, where they travelled to many far away places.  He was also a volunteer at Age Concern and spent his spare time painting and doing D.I.Y.

Jim leaves behind his brothers Tom, David and the late Joe, his sisters Margaret, Helen and Fran. He was also a beloved father, Grandad and Great-Grandad.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday 18th April 2013 in St Paul’s Church, Barnfield (Accrington) at 10.30am led by Rev Kevin Logan prior to cremation at Accrington Crematorium.
