James (Bill) Broughton
James Broughton known to his family and friends as Bill, passed away peacefully in Arbrook House Care Home, Esher, Surrey on Friday 26th January 2018, aged 89 years.
In his early years Bill was brought up in and around Church and Oswaldtwistle. Throughout his life Bill was a hard worker and worked as a teacher in Burnley before having a career change to become a Civil Servant in London, where his intellect, influence and skills got him to Senior Management in the Energy Department. When he retired he moved to Aldborough in Norfolk where he enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside.
For many years he enjoyed spending the winter months in Malta, where his circle of friends continued to grow.
Bill leaves behind his much loved step-daughter Samantha and his three step-grandchildren Tabitha, Olivia and Fin. He will also be very sadly missed by all his friends.
His funeral service will be held at 1.30pm, on Friday 23rd February 2018 at New Lane Baptist Church, Oswaldtwistle. BB5 3QN followed by interment in the churchyard.

I was saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. Bill and my mum were first cousins, and I was named after him. Bill visited us in Canada and I had the good fortune of visiting Bill at his home in Aldborough. Always a smile on his face, I have very fond memories of Bill.
