Jack Aspden

Jack AspdenJack Aspden of Netherton House, Clayton Street, Great Harwood, passed away peacefully in hospital on Saturday 29th July 2017, aged 81 years.

Brought up in Rishton, Jack attended St Charles RC Primary School and then progressed up to Norden High School.  In his later years he was a helper for the North West Air Ambulance, the East Lancashire Hospice, Marie Curie Cancer and also a member of the Operatic Club in Oswaldtwistle.

In his spare time he loved walking, including hill walking, especially accompanied by his dog Roxy.  He enjoyed travelling around the UK and also abroad.  He liked watching the racing and also listening to music, the 60’s and 80’s being his favourite music decades, but most of all Jack loved spending time with his family and friends.

A much loved father of Jackie, the late Stephen, the late Little Jack and Charlotte, a dear father in law of Alison, a special person to Marie Kim, Gaz, Leah and Jessica, a dear brother of Jim, Michael, Robert and David and a good friend of Graham, Chris and Dave.

“Sunday 12th July, 1936 – but the child that was born on the Sabbath day is bonny and blithe and god and gay.”

A requiem mass will be celebrated at 10.15am on Friday 11th August 2017 at St Charles RC Church, Rishton prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.

  1. Hi Jack, we’re missing you so much but we’re so pleased that you were able to live your life to the full.
    Everyone who knew you loved you and still does.
    You touched everybody’s heart, everybody who we talk to about you all have at least one funny story that they remember about you. It will be these memories that keep us going. Thanks for the signs you’ve been sending us, we will keep on looking out for them.
    You deserve this rest now, I can just picture you lying on a cloud, hands behind your head with a packet of biscuits next to you. Not just any biscuits though, remember you HAD to have dark chocolate because of the sugar in the milk chocolate. Never mind all the sugar that was used to make the actual biscuit haha you silly sod.
