Harry Mayor
Harry Mayor of Stanley Street, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully in hospital on Friday 4th December 2020.
After leaving school Harry went to work at Howard & Bulloughs, he then committed to doing his National Service in the Royal Navy, once back home he then had various jobs, including being a hod carrier on building sites for 25 years, a postman and later finished up at Joseph Arnolds as a machine setter.
Harry was well known in Ossy for his wonderful singing voice and always – gave a song in the local clubs. He also liked his Saturday nights at Ossy Con. He was also a Manchester United fan and used to be a member of the Irish League and the Royal British Legion. He loved his holidays abroad in Spain, especially Majorca, as well as Malta and Italy and in more recent years enjoyed going to Blackpool.
A dearly loved husband of 68 years of Joan, a much loved father of Lynn and Stephen, a dear father in law of Bob and Dawn, a treasured grandad of Mark, Lindsay, Rachel and her husband James, Sarah, Stephanie, Hannah and the late Daniel, a cherished great grandad Beth, Oliver, Dan, Connor and Ava.
Harry will be very sadly missed by all his family and everyone who knew him.
His funeral service will be held at 11.00am on Monday 14th December at Accrington Crematorium for family and close friends only (due to the current restrictions).
