George Yates

George Yates of Thwaites Road, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully on the 21^st February 2023, aged 86 years.

During his life George worked for 35 years for British Gas.

In his spare time and during his retirement he enjoyed going away on holiday with Corfu, Tenerife, Spain and Mexico being a few of the places he has been to. Back at home he enjoyed playing darts for his local team at the Thwaites Arms as well as playing dominoes at the Hare & Hounds and was a member of the Pioneer WMC back in the day, as well as the Stanhill and Rishton WM Clubs.  George also enjoyed listening to classic music with Dean Martin and Tony Christie being two of his favourite artists.  He was also an avid Blackburn Rovers fan.

A dearly loved husband of the late Eileen, a beloved partner of Maureen, a much loved dad of Anthony and Graham, a dear father in law of Dawn and Linda, a beloved brother of Carol and dear brother in law of Stuart, a treasured grandad of Ryan, Kirsty-Leigh, Paul and Lisa, a cherished great grandad of Jacob, Bethany, Halle, Jack, Amelia, Aolfe, Emily, Molly, Thomas and Darcy, a loving uncle of Tina, Suzanne and Debbie and a treasured gentleman of his partner Maureen’s daughter Karen and her husband Peter.

A Celebration of life service will take place at 1.00pm, on Friday 3^rd March 2023, at Accrington Crematorium.
