Garry Stephenson
Garry Stephenson of Fielding Lane, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving family by his side on Tuesday 29th March 2022, aged 76 years.
During his life Garry had various careers including starting off at a young age as a butcher at Wilpshire Cooked Meats, he also worked as an engineer at Warwick & Baileys in Accrington during the 1980’s and then as a chemical processor at William Blythes in Hapton up until he retired.
In his spare time he greatly enjoyed his football and followed Blackburn Rovers, he would enjoy watching his children Carl and Rachel play local league football and more recently his grandson Alfie play for Accrington Stanley. He also played in his late teens for both Preston and ARD’s in Ireland. Saturdays were his favourite days as he would also choose his footy teams for his bet and then watch the football on TV. He also played Crown Green Bowls for over 25 years for the Ossy Con and Rhyddings Vets teams. He also raced Greyhounds, but latterly loved walking his beloved dogs Becky & Harvey.
He also loved spending time with his family and going away on holiday to Cornwall – St Michael’s Mount, St Ives, Truro, as well as mini breaks to the Glendower at Lytham St Annes.
Garry sadly leaves behind his dearly loved wife Dawn, his much loved children, his treasured grandchildren and his dear sister Lynn.
He will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.
His funeral service will take place at 10.20am, on Tuesday 12th April 2022 at Accrington Crematorium.
Family flowers only please, but donations are being gratefully received in memory of Garry for the ELHT&Me charity to support the Haematology Dept and Chemo Unit.
