Elizabeth (Betty) Wright

Elizabeth Wright - ObsElizabeth Wright of Accrington, sadly passed away on Saturday 24th March 2018, aged 83 years.

Betty as she was best known to family and friends, attended Peel Park School in her younger years, before working for Mastabar (Mining Equipment) as a viewer for over thirty years.

For over fifty years she was a devoted member of St Paul’s Church in Accrington’s congregation.  She was also a Brown Owl in her younger days and later helped out with the Girl Guides.  Betty also gave a helping hand to other local charities including Macmillan and the Mayoress’ Charity Committee.

In her spare time and during her retirement she took pleasure in going to her static caravan and enjoyed many holidays away.  She also ventured on holiday abroad with Age Concern along with her many friends including Margaret, Doreen and the late Alice.

She was also a founder member of Platts Social Club and enjoyed ballroom dancing.

Betty sadly leaves behind her dearly loved daughter Gillian, her much loved grandchildren Rachel, Gavin and Thomas and her treasured great grandchildren Luke, Johnathan and Charlie.

Her funeral service will take place at 10.00am, on Monday 9th April 2018 at St Paul’s Church, Accrington prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.
