Edward (Ted) Morgan Scantlebury

Mr Edward (Ted) Morgan Scantlebury of Rolleston Road, Witton, Blackburn died suddenly at home on Friday December 14, 2012, aged 81 years.

Ted always worked hard in life.  In his younger days he had three jobs a week
to keep the family home running.  He worked for over 35 years at Coral Island on the Promenade in Blackpool as Entertainment Security.  People used to travel the length and breadth of Britain to see Ted in his role, just to say hello for his warm and friendly greeting. Ted also previously worked at Mecca Dance Halls, including the Locarno in London.  He especially loved working on the Miss World competitions down south with Eric Morly (Mecca Ltd).  Ted enjoyed the rock and roll era which he grew up in and worked in over the years.  Ted travelled the world twice and had a soft spot for his native Florida and visited there often.

He was a kind and gentle man to everyone who knew him and also his much loved dog Travis.  A devoted and much loved husband of Joan.

“   Ted will be very sadly missed by all his loving family, friends and his colleagues   at Coral Island in Blackpool.”

A service will be held at Pleasington Crematorium on Friday 21^st December 2012 at 3.00pm.  Flowers are welcome to Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
