Dorothy Mary Young
Dorothy Young of Oswaldtwistle sadly passed away on Wednesday 10th January 2018, aged 82 years.
After leaving school she undertook working in an office firstly at Stonebridge Mill then later at the Daisy Dairy at West End, where she stayed for nearly thirty years, she then worked briefly as a solicitor’s secretary in Accrington, before moving on to work for AAA motors in Clayton-Le-Moors helping out with the accounts, up until she retired to look after her grandchildren.
Dorothy’s main hobby was Yoga which she undertook after her husband passed away in 1971. She was a member of the British Wheel of Yoga for many years, and also a chairperson for the Lancashire Yoga Association. She carried on teaching several classes of Yoga throughout the local area for over thirty years. Dorothy also greatly enjoyed walking, especially with her dear departed friend Brenda and her other close friend and neighbour Margaret, together they would enjoy eating out after their walks and also their shopping trips.
Dorothy worked hard all her life for the benefit of her family and her friends and had a deep passion for Yoga.
A beloved wife to the late Rex Young, a loving and supportive mother of Phillip and Andrew and also a devoted grandma to Elisabeth and Mary.
A celebration of life service will take place at 11.00am, (today) Friday 19th January 2018 at Accrington Crematorium.
