Donald Bentley
Mr Donald Bentley of Worsley Court, Oswaldtwistle, died suddenly at home on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, aged 69 years.
Donald started his working life as an apprentice for Eubank in Accrington, before becoming a press tool setter where he made equipment that was used in the mines which was extremely high precision engineered stuff and where many lives depended on them getting it right. He also worked as a press tool setter for Luptons and Mastabar before joining Ashley Engineering where he worked, up until his retirement.
Donald was a great friend to many and enjoyed meeting them at The Straits Club in Oswaldtwistle before it closed “where over a pint would put the world to rights” he also frequented Oswaldtwistle Social Club (formerly Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club). He was also a member of the AEG Union.
He loved animals and nature. He always used to have a home for stray cats. When the kids were young he enjoyed taking them and his dog around the Coppice and also around the Foxhill area. Above all he loved spending time with his much loved family and friends.
Donald was a devoted father to Helen and Philip, a dearly loved father in law to Fred, a treasured grandad to Anna and also a dear friend and companion of Linda.
“Donald was a good and loyal friend and was always there for them when they were in need. He will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.”
A funeral service will be held on Friday 8th November at 11.00am at Accrington Crematorium.
