David Swindells
David Swindells of Yew Tree Drive, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Sunday 22nd July 2018, aged 71 years.
Throughout his life David was a HGV Class 1 lorry driver and worked for Ironfields, East Lancs Warehousing and finally for Kenyons where he stayed up until his retirement. In his spare time and during his retirement David took pleasure in going fishing and was a member of the fishing club, he often went on holidays to Cornwall, Skegnness and Blackpool but usually somewhere where there was a fishing lake nearby to test the waters. He was a member of the camping club and loved to go away camping and caravanning, especially with family and friends and made many more good friends over the years. He was also a member of St Paul’s Church in Oswaldtwistle. Without a doubt though his most precious time was spending it with his family, friends and his beloved dog Alfie.
David sadly leaves behind his much loved wife and soulmate Maureen, his dear son Neil and daughter in law Steph and his treasured grandchildren Joseph and Harriet, and his best and loyal friend his dog Alfie.
His funeral service will be held at 12.15pm, on Wednesday 1st August 2018, at St Paul’s Church, Oswaldtwistle prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.
Family flowers only please, but donations are welcome in memory of David for Cancer Research UK c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. BB5 3DR. Tel: 01254 390542
