David Harwood

David HarwoodMr David Harwood of Browning Avenue, West End, Oswaldtwistle, died suddenly but peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Saturday, August 2, 2014, aged 75 years.

During his life David was a professional driver.  In his early years he was also a steam engineer and took the Flying Scotsman from Accrington to Crewe. David had a great interest in steam trains.  He also took pleasure in 50’s music and enjoyed singing karaoke in the clubs.  He also loved to be in the sunshine.

The much loved son of the late Richard and Ivy Harwood, David leaves behind his dearly loved wife Nelia, his much loved children Yvonne and Graham, his dear sisters Doreen and Dorothy, his dear brother Richard and sister in law Diane, his treasured grandchildren Sarah, John and Stella and cherished great grandchildren Chloe, Reece and Ashleigh, a loving uncle to many and also husband of the late Eileen Brenda Harwood.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday 13th August at 9.40am at Accrington Crematorium prior to cremation.   Donations are welcome in memory of David for Macmillan Cancer Support and may be sent c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
