Councillor Paul Thompson

Paul ThompsonPaul Thompson of Hardman Close, Knuzden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a short illness on Thursday 26th October 2017, aged 68 years.

Throughout his life Paul has always been a hard worker and would do anything for anybody.  In 1975 he took the plunge and formed his own company Uttley & Thompson Electronics Ltd, but even after retirement kept his finger on the pulse helping out son Paul.

Paul was also a current serving Councillor for the St Oswald’s Ward in Oswaldtwistle for Hyndburn Borough Council, where he worked tirelessly for his residents undertaking local projects, sorting out problems and also helping various community groups along the way.

He also did a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes for charity, he was always quick to lend a hand or source a raffle prize to help his friends with their fund raising efforts whenever he could.

In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his friends in the Stanhill WMC, particularly playing cards on a Saturday afternoon. He also liked darts.

Paul sadly leaves behind his dearly loving wife Barbara, his much loved son Paul, his dear daughter in law Nichola and his cherished granddaughter Imogen.  He was also a dear friend and colleague to many.

He will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday 6th November at 2.30pm at Accrington Crematorium.  Family flowers only please but donations are welcomed in memory of Paul for Derian House Children’s Hospice, further enquires please to Paul Barton at Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
