Clifford Hallworth
Clifford Hallworth formerly of Clayton-Le-Moors, died peacefully in a private care home in the early hours of Sunday 17th April 2016, aged 75 years.
Cliff as he was known to his friends was a private man who kept himself to himself. On leaving school he worked for G Feathers Butchers in Accrington Market Hall, where he stayed throughout his working life and was a familiar face over the counter for 40 years up until his retirement.
He greatly enjoyed the country life and being outdoors. His favourite past time without a doubt was tending to his garden. He always kept it immaculate and the lawns were usually mowed after church on a Sunday afternoon. He was also a deeply committed church warden for many years at St James Church, Altham where he would dedicate his time sweeping the church path before the invention of the leaf blower.
During the past few years as Clifford’s health deteriorated he moved into Moorhead Care Home where he was looked after with sincere care and kindness, he will be sadly missed by both the staff and the residents.
Clifford was a dearly loved husband of Elsie, a much loved dad of Stephen, Deborah and Sarah, a dear father-in-law of Susan, Minh and Paul and a much missed grandad of Zach, Reece, Emma, Dylan, Matthew and Oliver.
His funeral service will take place at 1.45pm on Wednesday 27th April 2016 at St James’ Parish Church, Altham prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please but donations are welcomed in memory of Clifford for St James’ Church in aid of the roof appeal, further enquires please to Sarah Barton at Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
