Carol Dawson

Carol Dawson

Carol Dawson of Merlin Court, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully on Sunday 6th February 2022, with her loving family by her side.

Carol worked at Rist Wires from a young age until she was 29 when she tragically suffered a brain haemorrhage which left her unable to work again.

However, she was determined to not let this illness affect her as she was a full-time mum to her sons Jason and David while managing to enjoy an active social life.

She fought back from her illness to become a much-loved member of the local community and always had a smile for everybody she met.

Carol was an avid traveller and loved her holidays abroad. Her favourite place was Sidari in Corfu (or Kung Fu as she liked to call it) but she also particularly loved Spain, Greece, Mexico and the Canary Islands.

Back home, she loved the outdoors and being by the seaside, especially walking along the beach at Lytham St Annes, where she spent many happy hours with her family.

She was a very popular member of the Oswaldtwistle community and greeted everyone with a smile, a big hug for her friends and a kind word.  And was a dedicated member of her local branch of the Royal British Legion where she helped sell poppies for more than 25 years.

Carol was always the life and soul of the party, she loved to sing and dance and was well known to belt out the Tina Turner classic “You’re simply the best” of whom she was a big fan but she was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family particularly her children, grandchildren and great grandchild and she loved to spoil them rotten.

Carol will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and her friends.

She sadly leaves behind her husband Norman, sons Jason and David, daughters in law Lindsey and Vanessa, grandchildren Sophie, Cameron, Grace, Hollie and Nate and great granddaughter Scarlett.

Her funeral service will be held at 12.45pm, on Thursday 17th February 2022, at Immanuel Parish Church, Oswaldtwistle prior to committal at Accrington Crematorium.

Family flowers only please, but donations are welcomed in memory of Carol for the Accrington Branch of the Royal British Legion and may be made by phone, by post, or by envelope drop off at the funeral home (Accrington or Oswaldtwistle), further enquires to Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
