Arthur James Wild
Arthur Wild of Barnfield Street, Accrington, sadly passed away in Springhill Care Home, Accrington on Wednesday 21st June 2017, aged 82 years.
After leaving school Arthur trained in butchering. In 1953 he was called up for National Service which he completed until 1955. After this he joined the fire service where he served at Agecroft Station in Manchester as well as Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall. He later returned back to his first love, butchering and bought his first shop on Stanley Street in Accrington, he later moved to 40 Warner St, Accrington and stayed there up until his retirement in 1998. He was also honoured to become President of the Accrington Butchers Association in 1976/77.
In his younger years Arthur loved anything connected to water, he was both a keen swimmer and water skier, hence the request for donations to go to the RNLI charity.
Arthur sadly leaves behind his loving wife Celia, his much loved children Andrew and Deborah and his treasured grandson Robert.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday 29th June at 11.40am at Accrington Crematorium.
