Alice Taylor
Alice Taylor, formerly of Lion Street, Church died peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the East Lancashire Hospice in the early hours of Monday 25th May, 2015, aged 87 years.
On leaving school Alice was a proud Land Army girl in the Ribble Valley, here she met her future husband Tom, she also worked at Rawbottoms in Oswaldtwistle on the looms. During her life Alice worked for several other companies including Henry Gilbraith Cars in Accrington and Whites Car Garage on Whalley New Rd, Blackburn. She then took time out to nurse her husband Tom, she later returned back to Rawbottoms part-time until she retired at the age of 72.
Alice enjoyed socialising and talking to people, in the early years of married life she liked to go Crown Green Bowling with Tom. She loved playing Bingo, Knitting, and sewing patchwork quilts. She also took pleasure in going caravanning around England and also browsing around car boot sales, but most of all she loved spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice was a loving wife of the late Thomas, a dearly loved mother of Robert, Sheila and the late Thomas and Derek, she was also a treasured grandma and cherished great grandma.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday 2nd June, at Accrington Crematorium, at 9.40am. By family request, no black attire needed.
