Mr Jeffrey Sumner of Colne Road, Kelbrook and formerly of Kingsway, Accrington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2nd, aged 55.

After attending Accrington and Rossendale College, where he studied catering, he went on to become an accomplished chef. Jeffrey was an extremely hard worker, and he worked at many places around the country as a chef. Most notably The Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells, where he started as chef de partie and worked his way up to second chef. He leaves behind his job as head chef at Rolls-Royce Leisure Club, Barnoldswick.

In his spare time he enjoyed playing and watching sport. In his younger years he played for Enfield Cricket Club from juniors up to seniors. He was a supporter of Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley, and for the last few years had been a regular at North Ribb Rugby Club, Settle. He loved to travel. On spare weekends he would travel around England and Scotland on the train to visit football grounds, and any time off work would be for a holiday. He travelled to many states in the U.S.A, and Canada, visited Dubai and explored Europe.

Jeffrey was the greatly loved partner of Suzanne, a much loved father of Lucinda and Ryan, adored grandad of Indy. Beloved son of Christine and the late Norman, and dearly loved brother of Diane and Heather. He will be sadly missed by all his family and everyone who knew him.

A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held due to the current restrictions.

Family flowers only please, further enquires to Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. BB5 3DR.  Tel: 01254 390542.

    Dear Family
I was saddened to read the passing of my dear friend Jeff from college. I have the fondest happy memories working with Jeff especially our time in the lake district at the old England. I am still processing the belated news. Only from a photo Jeff sent me some years ago so I looked him up. I was heart broken especially as he was my rock and inspiration to continue my own career in the catering industry. Jeff was such a top bloke.
I went for my first pint in a pub with Jeff and he took me under his wing as I was 16 and first time away from home we fell out had a fight he won and we became great friends to the end of college. Thanks Jeff for being my mate like me family has always been everything loss for you unimaginable for you all that I struggle to express.
I still mention Jeff in repeating stories of my time in Lancashire especially from The Old England.

Please accept personally and my families deepest belated sympathy.

See you at the range in the sky buddy

    Prayers
    David Perdita & family Xxxxx
