John Forrest
John Forrest of Hawthorn Avenue, Oswaldtwistle passed away peacefully on Sunday 3rd November 2019, aged 84 years.
Due to unforeseen circumstances John’s celebration of life service will NOW be held at 2.20pm on Thursday 14th November 2019 at Accrington Crematorium.
In his early years John attended St John’s Junior School and later moved onto Hyndburn Park. He then went to work as an apprentice for the Electricity Board. At the age of 21 he took upon his duty of National Service in the RAF, where he served for 3 years, he then resumed working in Accrington, Huncoat and later Blackburn Power Station. Later in life (in his 50’s) he became self-employed as an auto electrician up until taking his retirement.
In his youth he was a keen cyclist and thought nothing of cycling to Wales for the weekend. John loved his garden and took great pride in his house. Since the 1960’s he was also a very keen caravanner and was a member of numerous clubs including the Caravan Club, the British Caravanners Club, the Caravan & Camping Club as well as those closer to home including Oswaldtwistle Con Club, James Street, the National Trust and the Car Club, he also enjoyed tinkering with cars and also making models in his spare time.
A beloved husband of the late Olive, John sadly leaves behind his much loved family, his daughter Susan and son in law Bill, his daughter Debbie & son in law Steven, his son Philip and daughter in law Sharon, his dear sister Brenda, his treasured grandchildren, his cherished great grandchildren and also his nieces and nephews.
