Jean Margaret Barton
Jean Margaret Barton of Wilpshire, Blackburn and formerly of Rishton and Great Harwood, passed away suddenly but peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Monday 2nd February, 2015, aged 80 years.
During her life Jean was a hard worker and had various jobs including working behind the bar of her mum and dad’s pub The Samlesbury Hotel, The OXO factory and then later on in life she worked at The Grange care home for girls in Wilpshire. Shortly after she retired to spend more time with her loving family and especially enjoyed looking after her grandchildren. Jean loved to go on holiday and also took pleasure in a run out to Cleveleys where she would browse the shops looking for a bargain. Jean also enjoyed knitting, baking scones and dancing. In her younger years she held the title of Mercer Hall Beauty Queen. She was also a devout Jehovah’s Witness and had many friends in the circuit. She was a lady full of love and kindness, she always made people welcome and constantly had a smile. One of her proudest moments was when her son Paul became the Mayor of Hyndburn in 2009 of which she was a great supporter.
Jean was a dearly loved wife of John, a loving and caring mum of Angela, Julie and Paul, a dear mother in law, a much loved sister of Joyce and the late Benny, a dear sister in law, a cherished grandma of Clare, Leanne, Laura, James, Matthew and Oliver, a treasured great grandma to Annalise, Jessica and Tom, a dear auntie to many and a special friend of Les & Joan and Marion and Joan.
