Jack Grime M.B.E
Jack Grime of Church View Care Home and formerly of Buckingham Grove, Church died peacefully on Thursday 26th March, 2015, aged 87 years.
Jack started his working life at Schofield Pies in Church. He later changed job roles and worked for G.E.C based in Clayton for many years. Most of us probably know Jack best either in his role as a Labour Councillor for Church, a local Justice of the Peace or as their local Methodist Preacher. Jack worked tirelessly for the community and also had several other voluntary commitments including being the Governor at several schools in Hyndburn as well as serving on various committees including Age Concern and National Children’s Home. He was also connected with the Methodist Youth Circuit.
Some of Jack’s proudest moments include becoming the Mayor of Hyndburn in 1984, being awarded an M.B.E for his services to Lancashire in 1988 and later becoming an Alderman of the Borough of Hyndburn.
Jack was a dearly loved brother of his late twin Thomas and sister Ethel, a much loved cousin and a dear uncle. Jack will be sadly missed by all his family, friends and colleagues.
His funeral service will take place on Tuesday 7th April, at 10.30am at Antley Methodist Church, Blackburn Road, Accrington, prior to interment at Dill Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only please but donations are welcome in memory of Jack for Action for Children (formerly N.C.H) c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
