Hilda Dobson

Mrs Hilda Dobson passed away peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, January 9, 2014, aged 87 years.

Hilda began her working life as a confectioner, she then had various jobs throughout her working life, these included working at Eubank, as a Home Help, at Holland’s Pies, in the Peel Park Kitchen and then as a full time carer to her husband Frank.

Hilda loved to go ballroom dancing with her husband Frank at Accrington Con Club and James Street Working Men’s Club.  She also greatly enjoyed meals out with her family and friends, holidays abroad, then later in life at Blackpool.  Hilda also took pleasure in doing crosswords and word puzzles.  She recently moved into Church View Residential Home where she made new friends and participated in different activities.

Hilda was the beloved wife of the late Frank, a much loved mum to son Steven and daughter Susan, a dear mother-in-law to Carol, John and Vicki, a much loved grandma to Ian, Natalie, Rebekah, Michelle and Mark and a treasured great grandma of Haydn, she was also a dear sister, sister in law and a dearly loved Auntie.  Hilda was devoted to her family and was a great friend to many, she will be sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10.20am at Accrington Crematorium prior to cremation.  Family flowers only please but donations may be sent for the British Heart Foundation, c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
