Kathleen Dawson of Oswaldtwistle, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Friday 1st May 2026, aged 82 years.

Throughout her life Kathleen was a hard worker.  She started her career at Mullards in Blackburn.  She then worked at All Speeds in Clayton for a while before working at Joys Salt Fashion Shop as a sales assistant.  She then put her working life on hold to start a family and care for her two children. Once the children were a little older Kathleen returned to work as a welfare assistant at St Paul’s Primary School before becoming a home help for the elderly. Once she had retired, she became a volunteer at Spring Hill Primary School where she assisted children in learning to read.

In her spare time Kathleen loved gardening, knitting and baking.  She also enjoyed going for short breaks away in the UK, especially to St Annes with her granddaughters as her close family was her passion.

Kathleen sadly leaves behind her dearly loved husband Terence (Terry), her much-loved children Mark and Lorraine, her dear son-in-law Paul, her daughter-in-law to be Jacquie and her treasured granddaughters Danielle and Emily. Kathleen will very sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 1.00pm, on Friday 15th May 2026, at Accrington Crematorium.

Family flowers only please, with donations in memory of Kathleen being welcomed for the Alzheimer’s Society, further enquires please to Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. BB5 3DR.  Tel: 01254 390542.
