During her life she worked at the Blackburn Diocese and lectured at Blackburn College in IT. She gave her time generously to community projects such as Oswaldtwistle Twinning and the Oswaldtwistle Sick & Poor fund. She was also a soroptimist and a committed member of her local church.

She loved the outdoors, gardening and her book club.  She had a passion for walking and travel, with her adventures taking her to China, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, South Africa and Europe.

A much-loved wife to the late Derek Clayton, a devoted mum to Alexandra and Victoria, loving granny to Loui and a treasured friend to many.  Her warmth, fun, kindness and strength touched the lives of all who knew her.
