Shirley Robertson of Spencer Street, Accrington, passed away peacefully on Thursday 4th December 2025, aged 91 years.

During her working life Shirley was a Personal Assistant for Boat Builders in Padiham.  She was probably best known though as the Landlady at The Bay Horse in Baxenden that she ran for ten years, prior to that, she was the landlady for a couple of years at The Red Rock in Padiham. More recently she worked in the Tesco Café at Blackburn up until taking her retirement.

In her spare time and during her retirement she loved drawing and enjoyed the artworks by LS Lowry.  Another part of her creative side was crafts, especially card making. She was also an avid reader with fictional crime being amongst her favourites.  She enjoyed doing crosswords as well as spending time with her family.  She was also a volunteer for “Meals On Wheels” as part of the WVS (Women’s Voluntary Service) in the mid-70’s and a committee member of the Hyndburn Comets Majorettes for over 10 years.

Shirley sadly leaves behind her dearly loved daughters Janet and Liz, her dear sons in law David and Duncan, her much loved grandchildren Edward, Ruth, Emma, Henry, Nicola, Angus and Hope and her fourteen treasured great grandchildren.

She will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 11.00am on Tuesday 30th December 2025 at Accrington Crematorium.

Family flowers only please, but donations are being welcomed in memory of Shirley for Church On The Street (COTS Burnley), further enquires to Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136-8 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle. BB5 3DR.  Tel: 01254 390542.
