Philip Ian Alveston
Philip Ian Alveston, passed away peacefully on Thursday 23rd January 2020, aged 72 years.
Throughout his working life Ian worked as an art teacher at St Hilda’s School in Burnley and also at St Theodore’s School, Burnley.
In his spare time and during his retirement Ian was very active on the local music scene, he was an exceptional guitarist and, in the past, has performed regularly at the Colne Blues Music Festival, appeared over the years on Radio Lancashire, as well as playing with several local bands. In years past he also performed at the popular St Mary’s Folk Club and was an original member of the Accrington Band “The Warriors”.
Ian was well known by current local guitarists and inspirational to many of them just starting out. He was also a very talented artist and writer.
A much loved brother of Tony and a dear brother in law of Joan, also a treasured uncle to Julie and Vicky and their husbands Darrell and Paul.
Ian will be very sadly missed by all his family and friends.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 12.00 noon, on Thursday 13th February 2020, at St Mary’s RC Church, Catlow Hall Street, Oswaldtwistle, prior to interment at Dill Hall Cemetery.
