Joan HoganJoan Hogan formerly of Hogan’s Newsagents and Papershop in Church, Accrington passed away peacefully on Tuesday 17th July 2018, aged 75 years.

Born in Clitheroe, Joan later moved with her mum and dad to Lee Street in Accrington.  After leaving school she became a hairdresser in Accrington for over twenty years.  Joan loved singing and was a frequent artist at Accrington Conservative Club, this was where she met her late husband Eddie.  It was then they decided to go into to pub trade themselves and became the steward and stewardess of the very same club, over the years they have also run the Springhill Club, Church & Ossy Cricket Club and then lastly the Foxhill pub.  They then both left the pub trade to take over the family papershop in Church which had been in the Hogan family for over 100 years.

In her spare time Joan loved walking her two little dogs and also owned a horse called Misty for 22 years, she loved pets and animals.  One of her most memorable occasions and a once in a lifetime trip was when she accompanied her late husband Eddie to Egypt in 2002 to meet up for an Army re-union with all of Eddie’s pals.

Joan will be very sadly missed by all her family and friends.

A dearly loved wife of the late Eddie, a much loved mother of Sara, Andrew and Lisa, a treasured grandma to Sasha, Darcy-Mae, John, Paul, Shaun, Jessica and Aimee and a dear sister in law of Bernadette.
