Best known to his family and friends as Jim or Jimmy. He was born at Micklehurst Farm at Browsholme in Clitheroe. During his life he has had many different types of employment from a butcher and slaughterman in Whalley, to a plant machine driver, and more recently as a builder doing property renovation. He was a well known, familiar face around Oswaldtwistle and a loyal committee member and stalwart of the Oswaldtwistle Social Club (Ossy Con Club) and oversaw the refurbishment and success of the club. He also enjoyed playing snooker, darts and dominoes for the club on a Tuesday night in the past.
Throughout his life Jim has been a Retriever Gundog Trainer, where his excellent reputation spread all over the world and was a member of many of their Associations and Clubs. In his spare time he took pleasure in going shooting in Settle in Yorkshire, Scotland but especially at the Solway. He also enjoyed fishing and spent hours up at Derwent Water, various waters in Scotland and Ireland but one of his favourite places was on the River Ribble at Hurst Green.
He also made time for his beloved allotment at the bottom of White Ash, Jimmy was a keen gardener and grew his own plant, he also kept, hens and rabbits there.
When he managed to take a break, Jimmy loved going away on holiday, in times gone by he loved going away with groups of friends when the children were young to Butlins, Pontins and Disneyland. He loved just packing up the car and off they went on their travels. He also managed to fulfil one of his lifetime dreams when he and Mandy went on a cruise around Alaska. He also loved going away to Benidorm, Majorca and spending time in the countryside.
Jimmy will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.
He sadly leaves behind his loving wife Mandy, his children Sharon and Colin, his dear step daughter Nichola. He was also a treasured grandad and Papa of Amanda, Natalie Luke, Chelsea, Jodi and Declan, a much loved brother of Leonard, Geoffrey, Kathleen and the late Derek and also a dear uncle to many.
