During his working life Alan was a policeman and was always popular amongst his colleagues and made many friends along the way. He was also a keen and quite accomplished sportsman and in his youth played for Lancashire School Boys team, Cambridge Street Methodist and Fairfield United Football Club.
Alan also enjoyed socialising and catching up with friends especially in his local the Stop and Rest. Alan always had a smile and a laugh for anybody.
He was a loyal member and treasurer of Trinity Community Church in Woodnook (which previously functioned as Christ Church, Cannon Street Baptist and Woodnook Baptist). Alan also devoted a lot of his time to Maundy Relief, where he was treasurer for ten years, he was always cheerful and with his 100% integrity worked closely alongside the late Dorothy McGregor in making sure things ran smoothly.
Alan now joins his dearly loved late wife Ena, he leaves behind his dear brother Brian and sister in law Esther, his treasured niece Gillian and nephew Chris and his great nephew Stephen.
“Alan was a great friend to many and he will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.”
