John Haydock

John HaydockJohn Haydock of Stanhill Lane, Oswaldtwistle died suddenly but peacefully in the Royal Preston Hospital on Tuesday 19th May, 2015, aged 68 years.

As a boy John attended QEGS then furthered his education at Cheltenham College, he taught in France for 2 years, then went to teach modern languages at Hollins School in Accrington for over 25 years.  After taking early retirement he worked at Bleasdales Garage for a while before moving to the Toyota Garage at Whitebirk until 2013.

During his life John was very active within his community. He was a keen member and Patrol Leader of the Boyscouts, a loyal committee member of the Guide Conservative Club for many years, he was secretary of the Blackburn Sunday League Football for over 25 years and was a great supporter of Referees.  John was also a member of the RSPB and an organist at Rhyddings Methodist Church. 

In his spare time John was a Blackburn Rovers supporter and played for the Old Blackburnians and The Old Accringtonians, he also managed Guide Con Club Football Club.  He was also a very talented musician and was also an avid Francophile.

John was a dearly loved husband of Tess, a much loved step father to David, John, Michael and Lynne, a dear brother to Roger and brother in law to Margaret, a treasured grandad to Kayleigh, Jade, Rachael, Joseph and Shane, a cherished great grandad of Liam, and a dear uncle of Mark and Kate and also a great uncle of Rebecca and Alistair.  John will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Rhyddings Methodist Church, Oswaldtwistle on Friday 29th May, 2015, at 1.30pm prior to cremation at Pleasington Crematorium.  Family flowers only please, but donations are welcomed in memory of John for Rhyddings Methodist Church c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
