Gilbert Ramsbottom

Gilbert Ramsbottom - 3Mr Gilbert Ramsbottom of Springbrook House, Clayton-Le-Moors, died peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2014, aged 91 years.

Known to his friends as Gil.  Gilbert was a true gentleman.  During his life he served in the army in the 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, touring India in1946.  He then worked as a telephone operator for British Telecom until his retirement.  He was a keen walker and also loved reading.  One of the things he enjoyed most was his holidays to Spain where he would often go for long periods of time and enjoyed catching up with his many friends that he had made there.

Gilbert will be sadly missed by his very close friends Susan, Danielle and Oliver and also his lifelong friends Anne and Ann.

A funeral service will be held on Monday 17th November at 11.00am at Accrington Crematorium prior to cremation.   Family flowers only please but donations are welcome in memory of Gilbert for Macmillan Cancer Support or The Royal British Legion and may be sent c/o Barton & Hallworth Funeral Service, The Old Foxhill, 136 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.
