Mrs Denise Marie Ward of Warwick Street, Church, Accrington died peacefully at home on Saturday 15th December 2012 after a short illness, aged 56 years.  Denise was always the life and soul of the party.  Always putting others before herself.

She worked as a Nursery Nurse and Teaching Assistant at Sacred Heart RC Primary School up until her recent illness.  She was the second longest serving member of staff, having worked there for 25 years and will be sadly missed by pupils and colleagues.

She also devoted her time to Girlguiding by running a Brownie and a Guide group  at Sacred Heart School.  She was also an honorary Brown Owl at the 10th Accrington URC Brownies.  She greatly enjoyed the many Brownie Holidays, Camps and trips. She always brought along her sense of humour, craft expertise and asbestos hands for the washing up, she will be sorely missed by all her Guiding friends.

Denise enjoyed spending time with her family, especially camping, walking and her holiday home.  She had a love for Egypt and went there for several holidays.  She also loved making crafts.  She was a keen fundraiser, always helping out at Family Fundays, The Carnival and other local events.  She was a great asset to the Hyndburn Mayoral Charity Committee in 2009/10 and enjoyed the various events especially the charity ball.

A devoted wife and soul mate of John, a much loved mother to Shirley and Peter, a treasured Nan of Thomas, Frances, Jaymie and Amber. Also a dear sister, sister-in-law and Aunt.

“  Denise will be very sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.”

A service and cremation will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday 21st December 2012 at 11.40am.  In memory of Denise please wear a smile and bright or colourful attire.
